Verify privacy notice
Short version: we check what you ask us to check, and keep as little as we can.
Verify is run by FCxO Ltd (trading as Eazi IT), company number 17425440, 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, who is the data controller. This notice covers Verify only. Our main Eazi IT privacy notice covers our website and services and also applies to your rights and how to complain.
When you check a link, QR code or number
- Camera and photos: processed on your device. Images are never uploaded.
- The link or number you check is sent to our server. For web links we also send the address to Google Safe Browsing to see if it is listed as dangerous. Our server also visits the web link (following any redirects) and, if enabled, sends the page title and the first part of its public text to Anthropic's Claude AI to write a one-line description of the page; nothing you personally enter is included. For phone numbers we may run a web search for scam reports about the number.
- We do not keep a history of your checks against your identity. We keep short-lived cached results (up to a few hours) and the anonymous vote tallies.
- Your IP address is used for rate limiting and is stored only as a salted one-way hash.
Votes
When you vote a link or number safe or unsafe we store the vote against the link or number with a one-way hash made from your IP address and a random device ID held on your device. We cannot tell who you are from it. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (keeping people safe from scams).
On your device
If you use “always open this exact link”, the list is stored in your browser's local storage. We cannot see it and you can clear it by clearing site data. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
If you register a website
We collect your name, email address and, for companies, the company name and Companies House number, plus the web addresses you ask us to register. We use these to review your request, prove ownership (DNS record check) and contact you. Registered web addresses and the owner's name shown as “registered owner” are public. Your email address is not. Lawful basis: contract / steps at your request, and legitimate interests. We keep registration records while the registration is active and for up to 12 months after it ends or is rejected.
Who we share with
Google (Safe Browsing), Anthropic (Claude, page descriptions, if enabled), our hosting provider (OVHcloud, UK/EU), Cloudflare (network protection), and, if enabled, Brave Search (phone number searches). We do not sell data.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your registration data, or object to our processing, by emailing sales@eazi.it. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
